Anchors Away! A painted dresser - before and after!

Ahoy there!

It’s Allie here to share another one of my favourite transformations and some great tips on updating your outdated furniture!

We restyled this unique piece using the colour “Anchor” from the Van Gogh Fossil Paint line for a customer (Katherine) and we couldn’t be more excited with how she turned out .

Let’s take a look at what this sweetie looked like in our studio before Katherine picked her colour…

She had such great lines and unique hardware to work with, but she definitely needed a refresh.

The piece reminded Katherine of an old fashioned treasure chest, so we took that inspiration and ran with it!

Anchor” is a perfect rich navy/grey that works great as a grounding neutral for a soft coastal vibe or a subtle pop of colour in a more contemporary space.

We freshened up the awesome original hardware by dry brushing it lightly with “Vintage Gold” metallic paint from the Fusion Mineral Paint line. I have to say, we use “Vintage Gold” on almost everything we want to add a bit of sparkle to!

Oh hey, we even paint books and mason jars! It’s such a fun way to add some accent colours into your space…and use up any left over paint you have on the go :-)

Expert Furniture Reclaiming Tip:

Painting your original hardware is a great (and cost effective) way to update your piece and give it a more current look. We definitely recommend using one of the awesome metallic colours from the Fusion Mineral Paint line.

Just give the hardware a light scruff with sandpaper, then go ahead and paint! You’ll be surprised at what a difference it makes on even the most tarnished hardware!

This gorgeous piece has already sailed away to her new home with Katherine, but our studio is always stocked with pieces just waiting to be painted.
