Hello hello!
I have a sweet furniture makeover to share with you—-this one was such a fun project to tackle and really transformed an old, rough dresser into a work of art!
When this dresser first arrived to the studio, I immediately fell in love with her—her details, her lines, her delicate features…but she was in rough shape.
Here’s a peek at what the dresser looked like before:
Her original varnish was thick and crackled—kind of like alligator skin. But to be honest, I LOVE when old pieces have this texture.
My inspiration was to brighten her up and work with that alligator texture to create a more rustic/ cottagey vibe— and Valerie from the Mango Paint line was the perfect colour to bring her to life!
After I painted her in Valerie and gave her a heavy distress, I knew this was the perfect piece to apply a decorative furniture transfer to.
The Spring Branch design from Re.design With Prima perfectly complimented the delicate features of the dresser and added a little extra personality too!
(Be sure to check out this helpful tutorial on how to apply the decorative transfers here)
Instead of trying to make a piece “perfect”, I try to work with & accentuate the character it already has while still bringing my own vision to life—that to me is what makes each piece so unique!
So, don’t be afraid to freshen up that rough piece you have tucked away with Mango Paint :-)
