Check out this expert furniture reclaiming tip!

Well, hello there! Allie here again :)

Anyone else feeling those winter blues? It might be time to freshen up your space with a restyled piece of furniture- always seems to do the trick for me! (Well, that and day dreaming of drinking a fruity cocktail on a sunny beach in California!)

I have to share another one of our favourite before and after projects with you that will hopefully spark some inspiration.

MascaraDistressedBuffet-1.jpg

We finished this moody buffet for a customer (Amanda) using “Mascara” from our van Gogh paint line.

Honestly, this is hands-down one of our favourite colours!

This is how our moody girl looked on our studio floor when Amanda first saw her. She definitely needed some TLC and that’s exactly what we gave her!

Amanda provided an inspiration picture she had seen in a magazine of a similar restyled piece and that was our jumping off point.

Mascara” is a perfect ‘off black’ with a tiny mix of grey and navy which gives this colour so much dimension and versatility.

Don’t be afraid of a heavier distress - sometimes that’s all your piece needs to make a statement!

We love the way the original wood contrasts with this colour and highlights the awesome details on this piece.

Expert Furniture Reclaiming tip:

Instead of trying to make an old piece look brand-new, try embracing her flaws to give her a truly authentic look! To achieve that look on this piece, once our paint had fully dried we used a fine sanding block to create a heavily distressed look overall. After distressing, we wiped away any excess dust and applied our protective beeswax finish.

So go ahead, paint your winter blues away!
