A beautiful new look for an old desk!

Well, hi there!

It’s Allie here - Mango has given me the reigns and asked me to share some of our projects with you!

And I have to admit, I’m feeling pretty inspired!

Have you ever looked at a piece of furniture and wondered if it was even possible to save??

Well, we recently posted a photo of a restyled antique secretary desk on Instagram and the response was incredible! We decided we would share some more pictures of her transformation and dive a bit into this makeover!

This sweet secretary was dropped off to our Studio by a customer (Marilyn) who had a great vision to give her family heirloom a new fresh look that suited her living space.

As you can see, she’d seen better days.

Now, Marilyn was able to look past the current finish and visualize her potential but knew that she would need our help to get there.

And boy- were we glad to be a part of this transformation!

Marilyn selected the colour “Patina” for the exterior. This soft blue/ green is a fan favourite in the Studio and works as both a nice neutral tone or a great accent colour.

The interior of the secretary was painted in “Morning Mist”. This soft white has a tiny hint of grey which paired beautifully with “Patina” and gave the inside a nice clean look.

I think we can all agree that the detail on this piece is spectacular! The customer wanted to let the original details be the real star of the piece. We mildly distressed all the raised edges to give her some dimension. We then added a touch of antique beeswax overall to give her that perfect aged look.

I mean, come on! If you’ve got it, flaunt it right?

The original hardware just suited the piece so well, so reinstalling them was just the icing on the cake for this restyle!

Hope you enjoyed this little before and after! If you did - let us know and we’ll share some more!
