Hello and happy Monday!

With every restyle comes a moment of deciding what to do with the hardware situation . . . sometimes the hardware is sweet or full of character just the way it is, but other times it's just darn right awful. There are so many things that can be done to spruce up existing hardware. For example just adding a bit of twine can sometimes do the trick enough to soften the look:

Other times you may want to paint out your hardware. Yes! You can use van Gogh paint to paint your existing hardware!

Two recent custom order restyles at Mango Reclaimed had just that moment where we decided to keep the original hardware but paint it out in a soft complimentary colour. The first restyle I want to share with you is a stunning armoire. The hardware on this piece was so unique to the lines of the doors and drawers that it would be near impossible to replace it without it looking a bit 'hokey'. So we painted it out!

This hardware was originally dark and bulky looking, but painted in van Gogh fossil paint's 'morning mist' and lightly distressed, the hardware is now truly beautiful! 

Because this piece is soooo heavy, I had to leave it in two sections to photograph it, but when it's put together in my customer's cottage I think it will be a truly stunning focal point. 

This armoire has been van Gogh painted overall in 'muse', has been mildly distressed around the edges and has a protective hemp oil finish. Some gorgeous details:

The second restyle I want to share with you is a very functional storage filled sideboard, that looks amazing now that it's restyled in van Gogh's 'stormy skies'.

The original hardware was brassy and distractive. Now that it's painted in 'morning mist' and put against the 'stormy skies' backdrop it adds some pretty french flair to the sideboard.
