A sentimental sewing machine restyle.

I adore my customers. The spirit and energy of the sweet couple who own this sewing machine can fill a room (or my studio) in an instant. They are chatty and delightful and have plenty of stories to share. When they first came into my studio a few months ago we collaborated on restyling a sewing table that had belonged to my customer's mother. He shared with me a memory he had of using the sewing machine as a young boy with his mother. The idea came to restyle the sewing machine and its table so that it could sit in a prominent place in their home and be used as a small serving bar for entertaining guests and/or to display his mothers sewing machine at other times. Love!

We decided to use Miss Mustard Seed's Milk paint in 'kitchen scale' and 'grain sack' for a beautiful and fun finish. The metal table base and legs were given a good clean up and wipe down using hemp oil to restore some shine. I adore all of the quirks and mechanics of this table with its easy to tuck away sewing machine, hidden drawers, small table extension . . .

The table has a tiny bit of distressing and an antique wax finish for extra character. We also painted out inside the sewing machine cabinet as well as all the drawers for a unified look.

The sewing machine sitting on the table is a great conversation piece and can be tucked away discreetly when the table top is needed for entertaining. A beautiful piece that is truly multi-functional AND holds great sentimental value.

What a beautiful ode to my customers mother to have her sewing table restyled. I hope that it will now be loved and used for many years to come.
