New Year, New Purpose--Repurposing What You Already Have.

Happy New Year, lovely Reclaimers!

It’s time to share one of my absolute favourite restyling projects with you which will hopefully inspire you to give a fresh new life and purpose to your pieces too!

This old French Provincial buffet & hutch got a LOT of attention at our studio last year…not just because of how beautiful she turned out, but because of how we repurposed her into two completely unique pieces…that’s right, TWO!

Here’s a peek at what she looked like before…

First up, we started with the buffet bottom—I know, I know…she looks exactly like the one your Aunt gave you as a hand-me-down ;-)

But take a look at how we modernized her:

I mean, stunning right?!

The colour “Harrison” from the Mango Paint line was the perfect moody grey to give this dated buffet a more current look.

And we can’t forget the hardware! Just changing the ornate drawer and door pulls to sleeker looking knobs makes such a huge impact!

But just wait…you aren’t going to believe what we did with the hutch top:

We see so many of these hutch tops go to waste—but by adding legs, you can create a whole new and functional piece of furniture!

..Like a bookcase/ display cabinet:

Painting the hutch top in “Jocelyn” & “Yvonne” from the Mango Paint line and applying a decorative Stick & Style Stencil to the back panel really makes this a statement piece!

And don’t worry, we will hook you up with a quick tutorial blog on our stencil process for this piece soon too :-)

So, I want to start this New Year off with a challenge to you to think outside of the box when it comes to your next (or first) furniture reclaiming project:

Think of re-doing instead of buying new :-)

Happy Painting!
