New workshop dates & the Women's Show!

Hello out there!

Just a quick note to let you know that I have posted new workshop dates for the summer!

The workshops at Mango Reclaimed fill up quickly - and for good reason! Check out how much fun we have:

If you're interested in taking a workshop at Mango Reclaimed check out our upcoming dates here. Hope to see you there!

Also! We would love for you to join us next weekend while Mango Reclaimed and The Inspiration Nest collaborate together again at the Women's Show

The inspiration for this show is ‘mind, body & spirit’. Our intention is to create a fun experience that provides you with new information, ideas and inspiration that you can use to enhance each one of these aspects within your already fabulous self. You’ll have the opportunity to check out some great speakers, demonstrators and fashion shows, shop, eat, sample beverages… and of course the swag bags are to die for!

The Women's Show takes place at the Quality Inn at 1011 Bloor Street East in Oshawa and runs Friday June 6th from 2-8pm and Saturday June 7th from 10am-6pm. Drop by Mango Reclaimed next week if you're looking for free tickets to get in!!

Studio driveby & another successful workshop.

If you've driven across Wentworth St. in Whitby recently - you may have seen us from the road. We're on the north side just east of Thickson Rd. . . I just love how our string lights make the space feel so festive!

A few details from inside the studio.

Hard to believe it looked like this less than two months ago . . . we sure have come a long way!

Stop in and say hello if you're in the area! Check out our hours and location here.

In other news we had another great workshop on the weekend! Students learned about painting techniques and got to work hands on with all of the products in the Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint collection.

Milk paint comes in powder form and can be mixed different ways to create different looks (it can be mixed as a stain or wash, or mixed as a paint). Sample boards were made while we covered various ways to mix the paint as well as distressing and finishing techniques. Workshops are a great opportunity to try out colours and layering before you tackle a larger project at home - plus it's a nice way to spend an afternoon and an opportunity to tap into your creative side.

This last picture sort of sums it up - we learned, played, let our creativity run wild, made a mess, and had a great time doing it.  Thank you to the students who came out this weekend - I love sharing my space and knowledge with you!

Info on our upcoming workshops is here. We will soon be adding plenty more workshops for the new year so check back often.

Workshops are fun!

Our first van Gogh painting workshop was great fun! Big thanks to the enthusiastic students who signed up to 'get their hands dirty' trying out all the beautiful colours in the van Gogh collection! It was a cold and snowy afternoon but we talked, exchanged ideas and inspired each other in the sunny studio at Mango Reclaimed.

We had all the colours on hand as well as the clear and french caffeine beeswaxes so there was opportunity to try out a myriad of different colour combinations, different distressing techniques and see how the wax finish can add another layer of beauty to finished pieces.

Students painted, distressed and waxed their own (provided) sample boards that they were then able to take home with them - along with the skills and confidence to paint their own furniture.

If you want to have a fun afternoon at the Mango Reclaimed studio learning about techniques to paint your own furniture - sign up for one of our upcoming workshops - can't wait to see you there!

What a great class!
