what'cha Workin' on Wednesday?!?

Happy Wednesday! Let's share!

Wow! Cathy is one talented lady! Can you believe that she made these bookcases herself?! I love that! While attending a workshop on how to build her own bookcases, Cathy drove past Mango Reclaimed and found out she could take another workshop and learn about how to use Miss Mustard Seed's Milk paint to paint her newly made bookcases. . . and here they are! Great job Cathy - I'm so proud of you!!

There is no 'before' picture of Cathy's bookcases because it would just be a picture of a pile of wood, lol.

Danielle did a great job restyling this little cupboard using van Gogh's Morning Mist. It looks so much better! Thanks for sharing Danielle!

These two lovely ladies both joined me for 'studio time/paint your piece' workshops where they worked on their own pieces that they brought in. Heather's table looks great now that it's painted in van Gogh's 'Muse', and the collection of 'Cashmere' items look great too. Thanks for sharing your time with me ladies!

As always, thank YOU for sharing your projects with me - I love showing off all your hard work and creativity!

What'cha workin' on Wednesday?!?

Let me tell you, Lisa is one talented lady! Not only does she have great design sense, but she's not afraid to jump right in and try things for herself. . . she even built her own headboard by plans on Ana White's website

Lisa came into Mango Reclaimed recently and picked up some 'Blue Horizon' van Gogh paint - which is one of our limited edition colours. Doesn't this chair looks fantastic painted out? It goes perfectly in her beach inspired bedroom and I can't wait to see what she's working on next! Thanks for sharing Lisa!

Lisa isn't the only one who has been restyling chairs using van Gogh's Blue Horizon . . . . my adorable and talented sister-in-law Natalie has also just transformed a chair using the same colour. I love how it looks with her fabric - well done!

This last restyle share started out blue and was van Gogh painted in Muse and Compassion for a sweet girly look. I love how Lauren's daughter Jayden got in on the action to help! Great job ladies!

A secretary - Muse, and Starry Night end tables.

Hello!

It's been a while since I completed these projects so it's about time I share! First up is an old secretary desk in need of a restyle and brought to me by a customer for just that reason.  These sweet customers are no strangers to having their furniture custom restyled by Mango Reclaimed - you may recall a post about their restyled sewing table here.

When they brought their desk in, it looked something like this:

Great lines and good bones but a little banged up and a bit too dark. Actually, in the above picture we had already removed the hardware, sanded down the finish in preparation for painting and even did some minor repairs - such as reattaching a broken leg and adding a new trim piece around the bottom.

Muse was the colour choice for this desk to give it a lighter and brighter feel.  Muse is one of those colours that just looks great on everything. It's light and bright and almost a neutral - with a subtle and refreshing green undertone. Using van Gogh Fossil paint to paint out the desk along with some mild distressing helped to hide a lot of the small imperfections . . . .

The original hardware was pretty fantastic so we kept it just as it was. Beautiful!

While we're here, I also want to share with you some van Gogh painted end tables. These were done in a combination of Starry Night and Chivalry, and I just adore the little navy knobs. One of these tables was completed as a custom order and the other is available for purchase in the studio. If you're interested, contact us.

Thanks for tuning in! If you have questions about anything we do here at Mango Reclaimed we would love to hear from you!

We also teach workshops! Learn how to restyle your own furniture by taking one of our fun and inspiring classes. Check out our workshop schedule and register for a class here.

A 'Restore' find, Restyled!

Wow! When my customer came into the store with this sideboard - I got seriously excited! And when I found out that she had picked it up at a Habitat for Humanity Restore - I was seriously proud of her! What a fantastic find!

CashmereRiverTidesDresser-4.jpg

Heres is what the dresser looked like when my customer first brought it in. Now you may not be able to tell from the photograph, but this dresser was in pretty bad shape! There were big scratches and marks all over it, not to mention water marks and stains all over the top . . . but she definitely had potential!

After some paint in van Gogh 'Cashmere' and 'River Tides', this Restore find was completely restyled!

I mean seriously, check out these stunning details! With van Gogh clear beeswax giving a protective finish overall I was able to add the french caffeine beeswax just in the details to really make them stand out. Using a wax brush is imperative when trying to get the french caffeine wax into all the nooks and crannies of your furniture. . . and completely worth the effort. Nothing enhances the details of a piece like this does!

While we're looking at the beauty of Cashmere - lets take a quick peak at this adorable bedside table. This was also restyled using van Gogh 'Cashmere' with both clear and french caffeine beeswax.

This bedside table was custom restyled for a customer to match her existing Mango Reclaimed restyled bedroom set . . . which you can read about here.
