Oh my goodness friends - do you feel that sunshine? It feels like spring (heck, even summer) is maybe almost here! I don’t know about you but the warmer weather always has me wanting to fire up the bbq, bust out the patio furniture and most definitely has me wishing I had a beautiful front porch like this one!
Let’s take a quick peek at how they looked when they arrived in our studio shall we . . .
I mean - come on! I think it’s pretty fair to say that they have come a long way!
Julian came into our studio with an idea to bring these back to life but he wasn’t quite sure how - but that’s ok - that’s where we come in! These chairs were given to him from his grandmother yeas ago - and he was told that she originally purchased them from the King Edward hotel in Toronto when they were selling off their stuff in the 50s! Now how awesome is that?!? (I happen to love staying at the King Eddie - but who wouldn’t!?!)
Julian just loved the idea of bringing new life to these - and we did too! Once Julian and his lovely wife had chosen Sterling for the restyle, we set to work getting them ready to paint while they set out to find some fresh and fun fabric for the reupholstered cushions. (Which were done by Classic Drapery)
We started the process with a really good cleaning. Like a really good cleaning (using our Fusion TSP)!
These poor chairs had sat unloved for years and it was time to bring out their beauty again!
I could share pictures of these chairs on this porch all day long . . .
I mean maybe I should . . .
Ok, ok, you get the idea. They turned out pretty darned great!
And the good news is that you can get the same great look with Fusion on your outdoor projects! This paint is naturally UV resistant which means the beautiful colour of your outdoor projects will stand the test of time!
We gave these just a little bit of distressing to keep with the original age and character:
We also finished them with Fusion Tough Coat for added durability against the outdoor elements!
Let’s take another quick look at the ‘before’ and ‘after’:
I’m so happy that we got to work on these chairs for Julian’s front porch - and also for his grandmother, and even for the King Edward, lol! To think that so many years later these chairs are looking great and ready to start a new chapter in the story of their life!
I wonder what they will look like another 70 years from now . . .
Do you have something that could use a new look? We would love to help!
