What'cha Workin' on Wednesday?!?

Happy Wednesday friends!

Let's take a look at what'cha been workin' on, shall we?

First up this week is Kaitlin.

Kaitlin restyled this sweet little bed using van Gogh Fossil paint in 'Patina' . . . a tried and true colour that looks beautiful on just about everything, including this bed!

What a difference some paint can make - its so cute! Thanks for sharing Kaitlin!

Here's a look at the ho hum 'before' . . .

Michelle and Mackenzie did a great job on this dresser and vanity set. It was their first project with van Gogh Fossil paint and they went all for it! This set was painted previously so it didn't have a nice dark brown base for distressing - no problem there - Michelle and Mackenzie under painted the set in 'Balsamic' a rich brown, and then overpainted in 'Cashmere' a soft cream colour.

A bit of distressing shows the rich brown beneath, and the set looks beautiful!

Nice work ladies - thanks for sharing!

While I do love everything painted in white or cream - I also know that sometimes you need a bit of colour!

My girl Dana is not afraid of colour - and I like it! Check out this adorable secretary desk that she restyled using van Gogh Fossil paint! Dana used 'Dreams of Provence' on the exterior and 'Mint Julep' on the interior and I think its fantastic!

What an unexpected and beautiful colour combination. Thanks for sharing Dana!

I love that hardware too! So much better than 'before' . . .

As always, thank YOU for sharing your projects with me - I love showing off all your hard work and creativity!

Chivalry has two sides.

Hello out there!

Despite what you may have heard - 'chivalry' is not dead! In fact, it's alive and well at Mango Reclaimed - I just love this soft and beautiful grey from the van Gogh paint line. Today I want to share with you just two of the many sides to 'chivalry'.

Exhibit A: the funky side.

Thank you to Lindsay my awesome intern for the great retro record player prop!

I love how some vision and a bit of paint has transformed this sideboard and it's super funky lines into something modern and sleek. . . she still has some edge to her though! Check out the 'van Gogh' interior!

Adding a pop of colour inside furniture is one of my favourite ways to add character to a piece!

The exterior framework of this sideboard was painted in van Gogh's 'morning mist', a soft white with just the slightest hint of grey undertones. Painting the drawers and sliding door front in 'chivalry' means that this piece is nice and neutral when she's all closed up. The unexpected 'van Gogh' blue interior is fun and inviting!

And now for the more serious side of 'chivalry'.

Exhibit B: the handsome & charming side.

A dresser painted in van Gogh's 'chivalry' is always a charmer. It can look grown up, charming, sweet, or sophisticated. With a colour so beautiful and so neutral, the lines of the dresser and the hardware get to call all the shots. This high boy looks fantastic with it's original hardware - had I switched them out for some crystal knobs it would have gone from 'grown up' to 'girly' in an instant. Love that!

Patina and River Tides - oh how I love thee!

Welcome back from a beautiful weekend! Did you get any of your painting projects completed??

Today I want to share with you two of my favourite colours in the van Gogh paint line - 'River Tides' (which is custom to Mango Reclaimed) and 'Patina'.

First let's take a look at 'Patina'.  This colour is the perfect go to colour for almost any painting project! It's a soft blue/green that has excellent coverage properties. Its soft watery colour is gorgeous on tables, chairs, sideboards, benches, hall tree's. . . .

This custom restyle was painted overall in van Gogh Patina, given a mild distress and a clear wax finish - beautiful!

Who wouldn't love this colour?

Now let's take a look at 'River Tides'. It's sort of like Patina's bluer, bolder older sister. A bit more punchy and a bit more daring, but still soft and sweet . . .

This custom restyle was van Gogh painted in 'Patina', given a mild distress and both a clear and French caffeine protective wax finish.

Which of these two colours do you like best??

van Gogh in the Kitchen!

Hello! What is it about summer time and warm weather that encourages us to entertain? Longer days inspire relaxing dinners and time spent around the table with family and friends. It seems that everyone lately wants to freshen up their kitchen space and they're coming to Mango Reclaimed to get it done.  Here are a few of the kitchen restyles that were done using van Gogh furniture paint.

This custom restyle was done for an instant kitchen update. The table and chairs fit my customers space perfectly and had sentimental value as a family heirloom, however the style no longer suited their space. After a quick consultation on colour we devised the perfect colour scheme to give some new life to this kitchen set.

Grey and white with a touch of natural is the perfect colour combination!

Painting out these chairs made a huge difference. We painted these in van Gogh's 'chivalry' and left the seats in their original state to preserve some warmth against the soft cool grey. I love how they turned out! (check below for a before picture of the chairs) The table was painted in 'morning mist' and 'chivalry' with just a mild amount of distressing.

Another customer had a kitchen update done by selecting this pedestal table from our over stocked storage room and collaborating on a colour scheme to match their current space. This table was van Gogh painted overall in 'cashmere'. A beautiful soft creamy colour that works in almost any space!

A two tone effect was created on this table by painting the whole thing in 'cashmere' and then using the van Gogh beeswax in 'french caffeine' on just the table base. The table top was given a satin and super durable finish using van Gogh's 'Table Top Finish'. Beautiful!

Table for one anyone? This adorable drop leaf was restyled to fit a young urban apartment where space can be an issue. The drop leaves add versatility allowing the table to be tucked away when not in use. A sweet green chair looks fresh and inviting alongside the white distressed table.

The chair was van Gogh painted in 'calm seas' and the table was painted overall in 'morning mist'. Definitely a fun colour combination.
