Recent custom restyles - a dresser and a hutch.

I love when customers ask me to restyle a piece for their home. Usually it's something that has been handed down to them from a family member - and while they may love the sentiment of it, they may not be in love with the look of it . . . this is where Mango Reclaimed comes in.

Recently I had the opportunity to help a young girl keep her grandmothers dresser in the family by restyling it to suit her current taste.  Check out this great low 9 drawer dresser. Once belonging to grandma (who is now downsizing to a gorgeous new condo), this dresser used to be painted a really really dark turquoise.  I sanded her down, added some legs, and using the van Gogh collection ('stormy skies'  & 'morning mist') transformed her into this beautiful, modern antiqued dresser that will provide ample extra storage in the bedroom.

Now from the outside this dresser is pretty neutral and will go well with plenty of different decor. However, I was asked to add a pop of colour inside the drawers - don't you love this van Gogh blue?? If this were my dresser it would make me smile every time I opened a drawer. So bright and beautiful!

Another restyle done recently is this beautiful hutch. Again an item passed down the family line that just wasn't quite fitting in with the owners modern decor.  This hutch had excess hardware removed, holes repaired and was painted using 'Patina' and 'Chalk' from the van Gogh paint collection . . .

A small amount of distressing and a hemp oil finish helps keep this piece from looking brand new.

After its restyle, this hutch is now proudly displayed in the dining room housing vintage family dishes. I just love those teacups!

Check out the 'before & after' pictures below - a serious transformation indeed.
